INFORMATION ON THE NIHON KOHDEN AED-3100 | WELLBEING
The Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a vital device for the first aid of cardiac arrest victims. Although it is a medical device, individuals with absolutely no medical experience or knowledge can use it effectively.
1. General Information
The AED-3100 is a product of Nihon Kohden – a leading Japanese corporation active in the development, manufacturing, sales, maintenance, and consultation of medical electronic equipment. Nihon Kohden is the only company in Japan that develops and manufactures Biphasic AEDs for community use.
The AED-3100 is the latest model from the manufacturer (alongside the AED-2150 series). Additionally, to serve training purposes, the manufacturer also produces the AED-3100 Trainer unit.

3. Key Highlights
3.1. Simple and Easy Operation
Time is critical for a sudden cardiac arrest victim, as survival rates drop by 7% to 10% for every minute passed. The AED-3100 operates with incredibly simple actions, accompanied by visual and easy-to-follow instructions that anyone can use.
-
Easy Start: Turns on automatically just by opening the lid.
-
3-Step Operation:
-
Open the lid to turn on the power.
-
Remove pads from the pouch and attach electrodes to the patient.
-
Press the Shock button if the machine advises a shock.
-
-
Note: If the victim is a child (1-8 years old) or weighs under 25kg, simply flip the Pediatric Mode switch.
3.2. Universal Pads for Both Adults and Children
Children are not "miniature adults." Their bodies require different energy levels for defibrillation. Many other AED models require specific pediatric pads, forcing you to swap electrodes during an emergency, which wastes precious time. With the AED-3100, the same set of electrode pads is used for all patients. You only need to toggle a small switch on the device, and it will automatically adjust the shock energy to be safe and effective for children.
3.3. Optimized Analysis Time (Continuous VF Analysis)
The AED-3100 integrates Continuous VF Analysis, allowing it to detect abnormalities faster. With this function, the victim's heart rhythm is analyzed even during CPR, and the device pre-charges energy before advising a shock. This minimizes the pause time for analysis and ensures CPR is interrupted for the shortest possible time, maximizing survival chances.
3.4. Multilingual Voice Prompts (Including Vietnamese)
Imported medical devices often face a language barrier. However, with the AED-3100, you can forget this inconvenience. The device allows for the installation of different languages, including: English, Japanese, and Vietnamese.
